Vishal Kapoor
Despite growing-up in India, it was the magic of a liberal arts undergraduate education in the United States that fueled Vishal’s interest in India’s development and a desire to come back and give back. After four years in economic consulting at Charles River Associates, Boston, Vishal returned to discover India and experienced firsthand India’s resurgent social sector.
Vishal spent six amazing years with Dasra in India, operationalizing the Dasra Giving Circle – India’s largest collaborative giving platform – and co-leading Portfolio Services – one of India’s most intensive diligence and capacity building support programs for non-profit organizations. Vishal co-managed a portfolio of over 35 organizations spanning several sectors: livelihoods, maternal & newborn child health, adolescent girl empowerment, technology for health, sports for development, domestic violence, and anti-sex trafficking. He had the opportunity to work closely with pioneering organizations like Mann Deshi, SNEHA, Sarathi, Naz, Aangan Trust and ARMMAN in the areas of business planning & strategy, organization structure & HR, fundraising, financial planning, and impact assessment. Vishal relocated to the California Bay Area in Jun 2016 to lead Dasra’s West Coast operations, and to use his on-the-ground knowledge to cultivate more and smarter giving towards India. In Oct 2018, he returned to India and is currently part of Dasra’s strategic philanthropy team in India. Vishal holds a BA in Economics with Honors from Trinity College, Hartford, CT, where he also co-captained the Squash Team (US inter-collegiate national champions). |
