Deval Sanghavi is the co-founder of Dasra, a strategic philanthropy organization that has been instrumental in shaping India’s social impact landscape. Over the past 25 years, Deval has guided Dasra in channeling over USD 400 million into the Indian social sector, supporting more than 1,000 NGOs, and engaging over 300 Indian families to elevate and expand philanthropy across the country.
Through Dasra, Deval has launched philanthropic initiatives grounded in equity, directing resources to uplift marginalized communities and drive systemic change. He has mobilized networks of philanthropists and private sector partners to lead impactful collaborations in critical areas such as climate action, urban sanitation, and adolescent and youth development. Deval was also instrumental in founding GivingPi, an exclusive network for India’s philanthropic families that fosters collaboration, shares crucial insights, and amplifies funding to address the country’s development challenges. Additionally, he has supported private wealth managers in enhancing their clients’ philanthropic strategies as well as helping them navigate their giving journeys.
Deval serves on the boards of numerous organizations, including Magic Bus, SRCC Children’s Hospital, Make a Difference, Industree, Flourish and is a Global Philanthropy Forum Steering Committee member. He has written for prominent publications such as The Times of India, Mint, NDTV, Bloomberg TV, and Hindustan Times, and has contributed to authoring books like Reimagining Philanthropy in the Global South and Measuring and Improving Social Impacts. He has spoken at prestigious global forums such as SOCAP, the Global Philanthropy Forum, and the Skoll World Forum and recently attended IMD’s Breakthrough Program for Senior Executives.
Beyond his work in India, Deval’s efforts have extended to mobilizing the global diaspora for meaningful giving, driven by a deep commitment to equity, empathy, inclusion, and collaboration.
